Changing How You Identify Yourself: How to Create New and Better Habits
We all have habits that we want to change. Maybe you want to exercise more, eat healthier, or stop procrastinating. Whatever the habit, the first step to changing it is to change how you identify yourself. When we identify ourselves in a certain way, we tend to act in accordance with that identity. For example, if you identify yourself as a smoker, it will be harder to quit smoking because it goes against your identity. By changing how you identify yourself, you can create new and better habits that align with your new identity. Here's how to do it:
  1. Identify Your Current Identity
The first step is to identify how you currently identify yourself. Do you see yourself as someone who is lazy, a procrastinator, or a smoker? Write down the identities that you currently hold about yourself.

   2.    Create a New Identity
create a new identity that aligns with the habit you want to create. For example, if you want to exercise more, create an identity for yourself as someone who is fit, active, and healthy. Write down your new identity and make it as specific as possible.

  3.
Act as if you already have this new identity
This means that you should start behaving as if you already have the habit you want to create. For example, if you want to be a runner, start running. If you want to eat healthier, start making healthier food choices. By acting as if you already have the habit, you start to identify yourself with this new identity

  4.
Surround Yourself with support
Surround yourself with people who support your new identity. This could be friends, family, or a coach. It's important to have people in your life who believe in you and support your new identity.

  5.
Celebrate your wins along the way
Every time you make progress towards your new habit, celebrate it. This will reinforce your new identity and make it easier to continue to act in accordance with it.

In conclusion, changing how you identify yourself is a powerful tool for creating new and better habits. By creating a new identity that aligns with the habit you want to create, acting as if you already have the habit, surrounding yourself with support, and celebrating your wins, you can create lasting change in your life. Remember, habits take time to form, so be patient with yourself and keep working towards your new identity
